Sweden has extended its support for the Local Government Initiative on Climate Change (LoGIC) project in Bangladesh, signing a new 2-year agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on 31 August 2023. The LoGIC project, launched in 2016, focuses on delivering climate adaptation finance and capacity-building to the most vulnerable communities in Bangladesh. The project emphasizes local leadership, innovation, and nature-based solutions, benefiting thousands of vulnerable households and women. Over the next two years, the project will expand its impact in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and continue its work in the country’s seven most climate-vulnerable districts. Additionally, the project will work towards institutionalizing the LoGIC model within the government’s national planning and budgeting system, furthering local adaptation financing efforts. Sweden’s commitment underscores the importance of addressing climate change at the grassroots level and supporting communities in building resilience to its effects.
